The Challenge
The organization was advancing its adoption of AI-powered tools across business lines. While the change promised efficiency and innovation, it followed closely on the heels of workforce reductions tied to earlier automation efforts. The climate was delicate.
The goal was to communicate with empathy and clarity, reducing anxiety, supporting understanding, and reinforcing a culture of continuous evolution without fueling fear.
My Role
As the communications lead for Operations, I was responsible for shaping the internal narrative around AI rollout in a way that acknowledged past context while confidently introducing future possibilities.
Key contributions included:
• Partnering with executive sponsors to frame AI as an enabler, not a replacement
• Mapping audience sensitivities and shaping tiered messaging based on levels of awareness and impact
• Building in sequencing, alignment, and reinforcement points to avoid surprises and ensure a consistent story
What I Delivered
• A strategic comms plan tailored for phased rollout and cross-functional engagement
• Executive briefing notes and talking points to guide transparent dialogue at all levels
• Targeted communications for impacted segments, with added focus on tone and timing
• Reinforcement assets including internal FAQs, team huddle kits, and messaging playbooks
The Outcome
The AI rollout moved forward with stronger buy-in and less resistance. Leaders felt equipped to answer tough questions with honesty and confidence. Colleagues acknowledged the shift, not with alarm, but with curiosity—thanks to the tone, transparency, and structure embedded into the messaging.
